Christmas 2015

stw_christmas_cardPeace to You!

The birth of Jesus Christ is celebrated at the time of the longest nights and shortest days for those of us in the north.  He comes as the light of the world and the Son of God, and we look forward to his renewing presence.

We have begun our Advent celebration by lighting the huge spruce tree so that it may be a beacon to all who come here to worship, live in our neighborhood and the many who pass by each day.  The Season of Christmas itself extends from Christmas Eve until the celebration of the Baptism of the Lord on January 10th.  We invite you to celebrate throughout the Christmas Season at Saint Wendelin.

Thank you for the blessing that you are.  Join together during these holy days!  Your presence is valued and important, not only for Christmas but also year-round.

Robert J. Kropac, Pastor

GivingTree2015The Advent Giving Tree is up.  Together we will help the West Side Catholic Center provide over 2.000 people that go through their Resource Center with items to spread the joy of the season to those who are often excluded.  Please see the bulletin board for items needed this year.  All donations are due back by December 13th.

Faith Formation Registration

Fr_KropacReligious Education is an important part of the ministry of a parish.  Of course, parents are primarily responsible for forming their children in the faith.  It is a promise that you as parents made when your children were baptized.  The parish community stands ready to help you in this effort.

For those who are enrolled in a Catholic elementary or high school, parish religious formation is not required, but certainly is encouraged.  For those who enrolled in public, charter, or non-catholic private schools, your children ought to be enrolled in our Religious Formation program, or that at another parish.  Our High School Faith Formation/Youth Ministry is done in collaboration with St Patrick and St. Malachi.

Since we are small in number, our formation will include supporting you as parents in the religious instruction of your child.  But first, we need you to register your family in the program by the end of August.  Please do so, and we will contact you about scheduled sessions to follow.  Forms are available in the back of the church and [wpfilebase tag=fileurl id=132 linktext=here /].

Father Kropac

Parish Garden Groundbreaking (July 2015)

groundbreaking1On July 18th, ground was broken for the new St. Wendelin Parish Garden.

Father Kropac, donning a hard hat, broke ground for the prayer garden which will be located directly behind the rectory.

(click for pictures)

During the groundbreaking, the congregation helped to bless the new garden by reciting the Parish Garden Prayer:

Blessed are You, Lord our God,

Maker of the universe;

You have made the sun and moon and stars,

the earth and all who live in it.

All glory and praise are Yours, O Lord our God!

Bless the people of St. Wendelin Parish

and all who live in our neighborhood,

and all who visit here.

May this garden be a benefit to all who pray here,

and a place of rest and recreation.

All praise and glory are Yours,

God our Father, for ever and ever.

Afterwards, everyone gathered in the parish hall for some refreshments and to wish Fr. Kropac a Happy 60th Birthday!
