Fr. Marek Visnovsky: Icons: A View Into the Sacred

Meet Fr. Marek Visnovsky, as he speaks about icons which are well known to the Christians of the Eastern Rites. These sacred images can lead you to the appreciation of the church as an icon of Christ, and of yourself as an icon as well. Perfect for Lent, spend time with us at 12 noon or at 7pm on Tuesday, March 21st. Call St. Wendelin Parish at 216.696.1926 for more information.

See [wpfilebase tag=fileurl id=218 linktext=’the flyer’ /] for more information.

2017 Lenten Season

“In an acceptable time I heard you,

and on the day of salvation I helped you.

Behold, now is a very acceptable time;

behold, now is the day of salvation.”

(2 Corinthians 6,2)

Lent is an opportunity to be deeply aware of the working of God’s grace in our lives.  Surely, an attitude of penitence can make us more aware of our need for God and our dependence upon God.  But the words above, from the Ash Wednesday scriptures, point to this time as graced rather than a time of penitence.

Someone once suggested that what we “give up” during Lent is really something we want to “give up” for life.  So perhaps this year we can focus on habits we would truly like to grow in our life, things such as generosity, forgiveness, mercy and understanding.

Please see the [wpfilebase tag=fileurl id=217 linktext=’Lenten Calendar’ /] for the many opportunities for you to participate in this Lenten celebration.

Also, if you would like to volunteer to help during Holy Week, we are using signup.com for that.  Simply click the following link.

New Year 2017

candleFather, we take this moment to thank You for this New Year. We remember your great love for us and for our world.

Bless our world with peace and comfort all those that suffer because of war.

Bless us, too, and all our family and friends as this New Year dawns. We light a candle to remember that Our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, is our Light of the World.

Father of love, make us joyful and thankful for this day and for every day of the year. As we walk in the newness of the light, keep us in love with one another and ready to say ‘yes’ to Your call as Mary has taught us.

Bless us, Father, as we begin this year.
